On Saturday, March 2, from 5-10 p.m., in conjunction with the monthly Downtown Akron Artwalk, Downtown Akron Partnership (DAP) presents the latest its new event series, Downtown Art Works - ARTi Gras.
The Downtown Art Works series enhances Downtown Akron Artwalk
through added promotion, performances, activities and text-to-vote
public competitions. Downtown Akron Art Works performances are provided
through a generous grant from the John S. and James L. Knight
Foundation. In combination with DAP's First Night event on New Year's
Eve, this cycle of events invite guests of all ages to celebrate the
revitalization of downtown through arts and culture throughout the year.
Meet Akron's artists up close and personal in this "unplugged" and
social atmosphere.
Highlights include performances of Creole Cinderella, an
original production featuring Neos Dance Theatre and the Ribtickler
Band, a text-to-vote competition for your favorite Artwalk destination, a
children’s fashion show at Summit Artspace, a Silent-Art-Auction at The
BOX: an Artists of Rubber City Gallery, prizes, giveaways, musical
performances and more.
To tempt your taste buds, Zydeco Bistro, the Orange TrĂ¼k and Ms.
Julie’s Kitchen will be stationed throughout the footprint with Cajun
cuisine available for purchase.
This event is FREE! Downtown Art Works events occur inside, outside,
and in-between the Downtown Akron Artwalk venues and include galleries
located in the Northside District, North High Street, East & West
Market Street and Main Street. For a detailed map, see the Downtown Akron Artwalk page.
